One man's adventure playing in his yard

A new addition to the family

Posted on | July 28, 2009 | No Comments

I was about to write a post about the tomato trials I have going on in the garden but I heard a peeping sound out back by the chicken coop, and decided to go see hat the ruckus was about.

When I got out there I found one of our decorative chickens (“decorative” because she’s a fancy breed, not a laying breed) scratching around with a little yellow fluffball next to her.

Seems that Cake (that’s the hen’s name — ask my daughter, not me) has gone off and hatched yet another chick. This is her third this year. At this rate, I’ll be over-run by next spring.

Oh well, the baby is cute. We’re going to call him/her/it “Cupcake”.
